This was used for the 8L90 transmission in my 2015 Yukon XL Denali. It's recommended to take care of the shudder from the torque converter as well as the hard shifting. My best guess as to why it works is partly because it's a thinner fluid, so it takes less time to circulate through the transmission and do it's thing.
